Cryptocoryne crispatula Engler var. tonkinensis (Gagnepain) N. Jacobsen

(Document service)

This species from northern Vietnam (the former Tonkin province) and southern China has been interpreted as C. crispatula var. flaccidifolia for years. It was December 2013 at the Aroid conference in Hanoi, that Jacobsen, Bogner, Ørgaard and Nguyen had the opportunity to visit the type locality where Balansa collected the type material in 1887. Only in 1941 the plant was described by Gagnepain as C. tonkinensis.

It is not known if var. tonkinensis has a seasonal character.
For reference to the other plants and for more literature see the page on the crispatula group.
